The Department of Justice (DOJ) has had a remarkably high success rate in securing convictions against those accused of participating in the Jan 6 2021 unrest at the U.S. Capitol, according to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal .

Out of the over 900 individuals charged with unlawfully storming the Capitol in an attempt to disrupt the certification of the 2020 election results, the DOJ has achieved a conviction rate of 99.8% on at least one charge in each case.

Over 180 of these individuals are now serving time in prison for crimes such as obstruction, assault, and sedition.

In many of these cases, prosecutors have been aided by the perpetrators’ own social media posts, which bragged about their involvement in the attack, as well as by video footage captured by police body cameras and security cameras in the area.

Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco commented on the ongoing efforts to bring those involved to justice, stating, “Our work is not done, far from it.”
